Why A Grand Week in Wales exists

Across Wales, people of all ages are ready to reconnect, get active and make a difference to their communities again.

A Grand Week in Wales is designed to:

  • unite clubs, families and organisations across the country
  • celebrate Welsh talent, culture and community spirit
  • raise funds for local sport and national good causes
  • create a shared movement that grows year after year

This is more than a single week, it’s the start of a national tradition that will bring Wales together every June.

Inclusive, welcoming and open to all

A Grand Week in Wales is designed so everyone can take part, including:

  • Disabled and non-disabled participants
  • Mixed-ability groups
  • Family members joining in
  • Multi-age clubs and community teams

The goal is enjoyment, confidence and belonging, not competition or speed. Every minute, mile, stride and smile helps Wales reach its collective 1,000 targets.

Where does the money go?

80% of all funds raised support our charity partners working across Wales, from children and youth programmes to mental health, disability inclusion, food poverty, veterans, and community wellbeing.

20% is donated back to your club to help keep grassroots sport thriving.

We did litter picking with our class and tried to get as many bags as we could. It felt really good because we were helping our school and the planet at the same time. We all worked together and our teacher said we were part of something happening all over Wales, which made it exciting.

All funds are pooled and then distributed to partner organisations, ensuring support reaches diverse causes and communities across Wales.

No, participants range from school children to grandparents. Clubs often involve families and volunteers too.
