Be part of a Wales-wide week of 1,000-themed challenges, inspired by Wales’ 1,000-mile border, bringing pupils, families and school communities together through activity and fundraising.

Led by One Global Ocean and Green Paw Project, the Grand Welsh Litter Pick brings Welsh communities together to clear 1,000 bags of waste.

Where does the money go?

100% of all funds raised support our charity partners working across Wales, from children and youth programmes to mental health, disability inclusion, food poverty, veterans, and community wellbeing.

We did litter picking with our class and tried to get as many bags as we could. It felt really good because we were helping our school and the planet at the same time. We all worked together and our teacher said we were part of something happening all over Wales, which made it exciting.

Can our school choose which charity our fundraising supports?

All funds are pooled and then distributed to our partner organisations. This ensures support reaches a wide range of causes and communities across Wales.

Is there an age limit for pupils taking part?

No. Participants range from nursery and primary pupils through to secondary students. Schools often involve families and staff as well.

What if our school can’t complete its full challenge?

Every effort counts. Even a small contribution towards Wales’ 1,000 goals helps support the wider mission and national movement.
